Tirohyoid kası, ince ve küçük bir dörtgen şeklinde olup, m. sternothyroidenus'un yukarı doğru devam eden bir parçası şeklindedir. Tirohyoid kası, os hyoideum sabit ise os hyoideum'u aşağı çeker.
